Traficantes de Sueños (Dream Traders) is a political production and communication project which aim is to contribute with content and promote useful debates for transforming social actions[1]. It is also a social economy project, a non-profit organization with no chiefs and involved in social market and the development of other kind of economy.

Traficantes de Sueños appeared in 1995 with the aim of creating an environment where reflexion materials could be found. The main tool for reflexion is the book, as it permits both individual and collective transformation. Based on this, an associative library and a distributor was created and it was after the 90’s where the publishing house, the design workshop and the self-learning and production for common notions were created.

The space where Traficantes de Sueños is located is not only a bookshop, it is open space with many presentations, projections, meetings, workshops and debates.

Traficantes de Sueños projects

Associative Bookshop

The Associative bookshop is focused on critical essays for social movements and narratives about other worlds. It is called “associative” because there are partners committed to make a monthly expenditure in exchange of a discount.

Publishing House

The publishing house publish under Creative Commons Licenses which permits free copy and download and it is also based in people subscribed to it by an annual payment that grant access to every publication. The publishing house also publishes translations of copyleft texts, such as “Free software for a free society”, “The code 2.0” or creativity manuals.

Distributor

The distributor brings books from all over the world and manage texts from little independent publishing houses.

Workshop

The workshop generates designs and material for other social economy projects.

Nociones Comunes

The project Nociones comunes open a space for self learning and discussion about a variety of nowadays main themes.
